Doctoral Mentorship Practices in Canadian Political Science

Abstract Supervisors shape the PhD student experience and play a critical role in students’ development. To what extent ways are faculty engaged mentorship? Are mentoring more or differently now than past? This study of political science from departments offering programs English language finds that graduate supervision is changing over time, with mentorship practices becoming both common varied. do not appear to be simply replicating their own limited as student. Instead, supervisors actively directly involved research careers increase career opportunities. There opportunity for institutions, at university department level, further invest building capacity ability effective mentors.
